Keep your piano in
tune. Your piano will sound its best and give you the most
pleasure when it is tuned regularly and kept in proper
playing condition.
Keep your piano clean.
Keep the keyboard covered (except ivory keys) when not in
use to prevent dust from accumulating. Clean the keys
occasionally by wiping them with a damp cloth and drying
them immediately. Do not use chemicals or solvents.
Maintain a fairly
consistent temperature and humidity control in the room
where your piano is located.
Play your piano
regularly. You'll get the most enjoyment from it and will
be able to identify detrimental conditions before they
reach a critical state.
Keep all drinks and
liquids off the piano. Once liquids are spilled, the
damage is irreversible
Don't put anything on
the music desk of a grand piano, except music. Pencils, paper clips, coins, and index cards can fall into the
piano and cause problems
Use only a
professional piano mover to move your piano. You will
avoid injury to yourself, your instrument and your home.
